As I look through the information for the course I am very much overwhelmed! So my goals for this course is to learn as much as possible. For example, I wanna know what and how to create a wiki, podcast, etc.
Okay, I am going to try to post my message again. I know how you feel. I have no clue what wiki, podcast, etc are. I have no clue how to create a URL for wiki. I hate that my girls know more about technology than me, that is scary.
Jennifer: The instructions for your first post indicate: "Your first blog entry should outline your goals for this course. What do you already know and what do you want to learn? Explain why you chose these goals? Be specific. Don't include ideas such as learn as much as you can or learn about the computer. These are too vague and don't allow you to judge whether you actually have met these goals."
The advantages of more specific goals is that it makes it easier to create an action plan to meet those goals and you are also better able to judge whether you met those goals at the end of the course. You started out with specific goals for the wiki and podcast, but then wimped out with etc. Rethink what you already know and relate that to what you want to know. Post an update for your goals.
Amy: Take this class one step at a time. In week three, you'll learn about how to create a URL for a wiki. Also, tell yourself that it is okay for your girls to know more about technology than you do. They grew up with technology. We're digital immigrants. It's like learning a new language. Also, be glad they have the expertise. Use it. Let them help you. That's often what happens in the classroom. Once again, it is okay for your students to know something you don't know. There's too much information out there for us to know everything.
Hi to everybody, Jennifer hoping that this semester will be a great one for you and you will set your goals and try to abide by them like myself. I know that some thins we may not be familiar with, but with keeping an open mind and being willing to learn it can work out for our good, Take care and have a great week, Pamela Mckinnon
